Ladies Circle

Boston assist with Race for Life

Boston Ladies Circle resplendent in their volunteers t shirts – while the sun was still shining!Boston Ladies Circle took part in the 10th race for life held at the PRSA in Boston recently.

We arrived at 8am (some of us recovering from the night before and after stopping off at McDonalds for breakfast!) with the sun shining down on us.

It was set to be a great day. We pushed in stakes and tied metres and metres of bright pink ribbon everywhere. As the ladies arrived, our chairman Julia Scrimshaw had a chat with Melvyn Prior from BBC Radio Lincolnshire and publicised the great organisation we all belong to in the hope of getting a few new members.

Split into runners and walkers we escorted the 1400 ladies, all dressed in various pink outfits to the start line. With the sun still shining off they went, running into the distance.

We were ready and waiting for their return, with Julia handing a medal to the winning lady who finished in 28 minutes. As the rest of the ladies came through the finish line, so did the rain but nobody seemed to notice as we marvelled at the achievements of all these ladies and children. We handed out medals, goody bags and bottles of water as well as lots of 'Well Dones and Congratulations'

Marshalling for a Race for Life event is one of those memorable and inspirational experiences and we can't wait to do it all again on 3rd July when we will be marshalling at Cleethorpes.
